Inspired by the traditional ceramics of Nisa, this rug interprets the floral motifs engraved on clay vessels with a new vocabulary: that of textiles.
Here, ornament is revealed within the very structure, like pieces moulded by hand and marked with simple gestures.
Nisa uses varying heights of cut wool to sculpt the pattern.
The absence of colour contrast highlights the relief work, requiring precision in cutting and control in density. This technique creates tactile, sophisticated surfaces where the design is suggested rather than declared.
