A collection rooted in matter, memory, and the rhythm of Alentejo.
ALÉM TEJO is born of Alentejo, yet it is not confined to its landscape. It goes beyond the image of golden plains. It explores what is embedded in the land, in gestures, in tradition, in architecture, in silence. Each rug was born from a concrete reference. A gesture. A texture. A structure. Form was never decorative. It was the consequence of a gaze.
We did not begin with a concept; we began with a place. With its light and its gestures. With the objects that remain, the textures that endure, and with time that is not measured by urgency.
We used only materials that respect the place: natural undyed wool, jute, and linen.
The foundation of the collection is natural wool, used in its raw state: undyed, minimally processed. The tones we see were not chosen. They are those offered by the material itself: pure whites, irregular beiges, soft greys. A palette that is not designed, but revealed. In some pieces, we added small proportions of jute or linen. Plant-based fibres, biodegradable, with a dry touch and firm structure. Materials of natural origin and low impact, enriching the surface without overshadowing wool.
ALÉM TEJO is a collection of 13 rugs. Each with its own cadence, its own relief, its own pause. Some speak with density and presence. Others barely impose themselves, inviting closeness. What unites them is the way the place has shaped them.
